Losing your balance can be frightening and result in serious injury. Difficulty with balance, coupled with a diagnosis of osteoporosis can place you a higher risk for injury. Osteoporosis is a condition in which bones become less dense due to loss of minerals including calcium. Bones become frail and can easily break. In addition, osteoporosis can cause bone pain, loss of height and a kyphotic or stooped posture. Physical therapy can help you to strengthen the muscles which support bones and joints, improve your posture and reduce pain and work to improve balance so that you can reduce your risk of falling and sustaining a fracture.
